Provision for poverty eradication is needed in the budget

| Demand in the debate on the public budget proposal

The budget of the country is made confidentially and there is no public participation in it. So it lacks a solid program to address people’s concerns. Even today, more than 23 crore people are living in poverty in the country and a provision of Rs. 1 lakh crore is expected in the country’s budget for their upliftment.

Center for Holistic Human Development and Research organized a discussion on the proposal of Jan Arthasankalpa 2024-25 at SM Joshi Auditorium. On this occasion, the head of the center, Vishweshwar Raste, Marxist leader Ajit Abhyankar, social worker Vishal Vimal, and others were present. On this occasion Swapna Aluri, Shivangi Bageshwari, Utkarsh Pandey, Pramod Dahule, Jayashree Patil, Neha Madhvi, Vijaya Lakshmi made presentations. The participants expressed their opinions. Poverty alleviation, employment growth, well-planned urbanization, tourism development, skill development, democratic empowerment, food literacy, quality and sufficient electricity, girl child education, and price stability for the perishable agricultural products are neglected in the country’s budget. Therefore, the need to pay more attention to these points and make substantial provision for it was expressed in the discussion. Taking into account the suggestions and opinions received on the proposal of the Public Budget 2024-25, the Public Budget will be announced on January 21, 2024. Vishal Vimal said that a copy will be sent to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister.

Few of our 140 crore people know the country’s budget. When the country’s budget is presented, it is only discussed for two days. That discussion is limited only to how much income tax has increased or decreased. Budget is an exceptional reflection of people’s questions, problems, and future. Marxist leader Ajit Abhyankar expressed the opinion that it has adversely affected the overall development of the country. 23 to 27 crore people are living in poverty in our country, there is no separate provision in the national budget to eradicate this poverty. People need employment, education, and new planning to eradicate poverty. Vishweshwar Raste expressed the opinion that if this is done continuously for four to five years, poverty will be brought under control. There is a need for well-planned management of cities to curb the uncontrolled growth of cities. 73rd and 74th constitutional amendments should be effectively implemented. India spends only one percent of the global tourism industry. If the tourism business is developed, it will increase investment and create employment and financial stability, he said.

We are neglecting to promote a democratic system. Therefore, there is a need to implement a democratic process by knowing the opinions of people in families, institutions, organizations, states, and countries. A provision of at least 500 crore rupees is required in the country’s budget to inculcate the democratic values. We need to create food literacy and overconsumption and malnutrition are huge problems. There is a need to provide quality, regular, and free electricity to the poor. Cold storage and processing industries are essential to increase the shelf life of perishable agricultural products. It will provide stable prices to the farmers, this form was organized by Swapna Aluri, Shivangi Bageshwari, Utkarsh Pandey, Pramod Dahule, Jayashree Patil, Neha Madhvi, Vijaya Lakshmi.
