7th pay commission latest news: The month of March was very good for central employees. The Union Cabinet approved a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA Hike). Dearness allowance has increased to 50 percent. HRA was also revised. But, the happiness for central employees did not stop here. Apart from dearness allowance and HRA, there are 9 such allowances, which are benefiting central employees. These allowances have also increased.
Benefit of 50 percent dearness allowance
The increase in dearness allowance (DA) has also benefited other allowances. Dearness allowance was increased by 4 percent to 50 percent, while HRA was also increased by 3, 2, 1 percent. Apart from this, travel allowance (TA) has also increased. The benefit of all these allowances will be available from March 31.
Which allowances have increased?
A tremendous increase has been seen in 9 allowances including the dearness allowance of central employees.
– House Rent Allowance (HRA)
– Children Education Allowance (CAA)
– Childcare Special Allowance
– Hostel Subsidy
– TA on transfer (transportation of personal items)

Will the mathematics of dearness allowance change now?
The government had made the dearness allowance zero while implementing the 7th Pay Commission in the year 2016. According to the rules, as soon as the dearness allowance reaches 50 percent, it will be made zero and the money that the employees are getting as allowance according to 50 percent will be added to the basic salary i.e. minimum salary (da merger basic salary). Suppose the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18000, then he will get Rs 9000 of 50 percent DA. But, if the DA is 50 percent, then it will be added to the basic salary and the dearness allowance will be made zero again. Meaning the basic salary will be revised to Rs 27,000. However, for this the government may also have to change the fitment.
From when will the dearness allowance be zero?
If experts are to be believed, the new dearness allowance will be calculated in July. Because, the government increases the dearness allowance only twice a year. Approval has been given in March for January. Now the next revision is to be implemented from July 2024.  In such a situation, the dearness allowance will be merged only then and its calculation will be done from zero. Meaning, the AICPI index of January to June 2024 will decide whether the dearness allowance will be 3 percent, 4 percent or more. As soon as this situation becomes clear, 50 percent dearness allowance will be added to the basic salary of the employees.
