 An inspection was conducted in the area from Katraj Bogda to Navale Bridge to control accidents.  It was pointed out that most of the accidents were caused by heavy vehicles in Katraj Bogda to Navale Bridge area.  Accidents are taking place as vehicles speeding through this ghat and their brake systems often fail.  Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the speed of these vehicles.  For this the speed limit is 40 km.  It was decided in the discussion of the committee that this should be done.  These heavy vehicles include tractor-trailers, articulated vehicles, truck-trailers, multi-axle, container-carrying heavy vehicles.  This will exempt emergency ambulances, police vehicles or fire brigade vehicles.

 Remedial plans are being implemented to prevent accidents between Katraj Tunnel and Navale Bridge.  One of these speed limits is being enforced.  Apart from this, the Deputy Commissioner of Police has appealed to the citizens to submit any suggestions to the traffic police office at Traffic Control Branch, Bungalow No. 6, Jail Road, Yerwada, Pune by 11 am on May 26.
