Make STP Plant mandatory if generating more than 10 CMD domestic sewage |  Demand to PMC Commissioner

Pune Sewage Treatment Plant |  The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has issued guidelines to all Municipal Corporations in the state.  In which it is mentioned that if the total construction area is less than 20000 square meters and more than 10(CMD) cubic meters per day (Sewage Water) is generated, it will be mandatory to install Sewage Treatment Plant (STP Plant) to treat the sewage.  Accordingly, we should immediately oblige all the builders in our area of work.  Environmental consultant Rakesh Dhotre has made such a demand to Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar (PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar).

According to Dhotre’s statement, the city of Pune has been suffering from river pollution for the past few years. The main reason behind this is that untreated sewage goes into the water body and finally into the river.  It is also worth noting that traditional treatment facilities do not give 100% results at the source.  Mostly untreated sewage and some untreated industrial effluents from Pune city enters the river.  which ultimately leads to river pollution.  And faeces contain high levels of bacteria, making the water unfit for human consumption.

We as environmental consultants are requesting the Pune Municipal Corporation as a local authority to provide SIBF treatment system to treat the waste water generated in Pune city.  This will help prevent river pollution.  Dhotre said in his statement.
