Pune Water Crisis |  Pune has 4 dams, yet 4 lakh tankers are quenching the thirst of Pune residents!

Pune Water Crisis – (The Karbhari News Service) – Pune city’s thirst for water (PMC Water Supply) is increasing. Pune has four dams.  Water is taken from Bhama Askhed, Pavana Dam.  Still, Pune’s thirst is not quenched.  Pune needs more than 4 lakh tankers (Pune Water Tanker) in a year.  There are so many water complaints.  It is estimated that this situation will be dire in the future.  On this occasion, citizens are asking the question that when the PMC Equal Water Scheme will be implemented in Pune.  (PMC Water Supply Department)
Pune city is supplied with water from Panshet, Khadakwasla, Temghar and Varasgaon dams of the Khadakwasla chain project and also from Bhama Askhed and Pavana dams.  16 TMC of water is used in a year through this.  However, this water is rarely seen falling.  Because of uneven water supply to citizens.  In some places, water is abundant, while in some places, one has to wait like a long wait for a drop of water.  Therefore, the municipality supplies water to these people through tankers.  (Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)
Some tankers are provided by the municipality, while in some places contractors’ tankers have to be used.  In some places, the citizens make the tanker facility available by themselves.  For this, the Municipal Corporation has provided tanker points.
34 villages have been included in Pune city.  By giving water to these villages, the municipality has come under the nose.  Tankers also fall short here.  Water is not available from the tanker filling station in the dam at all places.  So citizens have time to use water from borings.  It is affecting the health of citizens.
Meanwhile, according to the information provided by the Municipal Water Supply Department, 4 lakh 348 tankers were used during the period from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024.  Before that, 3 lakh 54 thousand 254 tankers were used in the city and area in the year 2022-23.  Before that, 3 lakh 6 thousand 842 tankers were used in the year 2021-22.  More water will be required in the next two months.  This question will continue to grow.  For this, the only option is to provide equal water supply.
