PMC Garden Department – (The Karbhari News Service) |  No trees should be cut on the occasion of Holi.  Such an appeal has been made on behalf of the Garden Department of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC Garden Department).  It is an offense to burn, cut down trees or do any act of harming trees in any way without a permit.  A fine of up to 1 lakh can be imposed for this.  Park Superintendent Ashok Ghorpade (Ashok Ghorpade PMC) has given this warning to the citizens.  (Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)

 The Maharashtra (Urban Area) Tree Preservation Act, 1975 to Pune Municipal Corporation Jurisdiction has been implemented.  The Tree Authority functions as per the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act, 1975, Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Tree Protection and Conservation Rules, 2009 and the order of May High Court, Bombay dated 20th September, 2013.  (Pune PMC News)

 As per the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees (Amendment) Act, 2021

 It is an offense to burn, cut down trees or do any act of harming trees in any way without a permit.  Such an offense shall be punishable with fine of an amount equal to the value drawn but not exceeding one lakh rupees, using such method as may be notified by the Government.’
