PEHEL 2024 Pune PMC | 53 tonnes of e-waste and plastic Waste accumulated in 4 hours

 PEHEL 2024 Pune PMC |  On behalf of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and social organizations in the city, ‘PEHEL-2024’ city level e-waste and plastic collection campaign was implemented on Sunday.  53 tonnes of e-waste and plastic were collected.This information was given on behalf of Municipal Solid Waste Management Department (PMC Solid Waste Management Department).(Pune PMC News)
 On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sant Gadge Maharaj, Pune Municipal Corporation, Cummins India Foundation, KPIT, Purnam Ecovision Foundation and social organizations of Pune organized a city level e-waste and plastic collection campaign ‘PEHEL-2024’ on February 25 during Environment Week.  The campaign was inaugurated by the chief guest musician Dr.  Salil Kulkarni and Dr.  Dr. Kunal Khemnar, Pune Municipal Additional Commissioner.  It was held at Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Park.  (Pune Municipal Corporation Latest News)
 The program was graced by Deputy Commissioner Solid Waste Management Sandeep Kadam, Cummins India Foundation CSR Head Saujanya Veguru, KPIT CSR Head Tushar Juvekar, Aadar Poonawala Clean City Initiative Shri.  Malhar Karwande, Purnam Ecovision Foundation Director Atul Kshirsagar and CEO Dr.  Rajesh Manerikar, former corporator Madhuri Sahasrabuddhe, municipal assistant health officer Dr.  Ketaki Ghatge was present on this occasion.
 Around 1200 volunteers from different organizations, companies and colleges conducted public awareness experiments on 18th to 24th February, among all citizens under the campaign.  Public awareness through street plays, games, square meetings, leaflets were distributed.  A large number of e-waste and plastic was collected at 415 collection centers set up by volunteers during this campaign from 9 am to 1 pm with great response.
   A total of about 7500 people gave their household waste to the center through the campaign.  Around 53 tonnes of waste has been collected this time, including 40 tonnes of e-waste and 13 tonnes of plastic waste.  Recoverable computers and laptops from the collected e-waste will be repaired and delivered to the needy schools and students.  The remaining e-waste and plastic waste will be disposed of scientifically by government approved recyclers.  This was said on behalf of the solid waste department.

 PMC PEHEL – 2024 |  On the occasion of Sant Gadge Baba Jayanti, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducts various environmental friendly activities every year. These include Deep Cleaning Drive, Waste Sorting Awareness, Eradication of Chronic Waste Spots and PMC PEHEL 2024 activities.
 Like last year, Pune Municipal Corporation, Cummins India Foundation, KPIT and local social organizations in the field of environment have jointly organized ‘PEHEL-2024’ e-waste and plastic collection campaign at the city level.  This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Sandip Kadam PMC.
  In this campaign, on February 25, more than 400 collection centers will be set up across Pune city from 9 am to 1 pm.
  Citizens should register their active participation.  Such an appeal has been made by the Municipal Solid Waste Management Department (PMC Solid Waste Management Department).
 Under this on February 24 in schools and colleges E-waste and plastic will be collected.  Awareness programs will be organized at various levels from February 18 and sermons will be presented on February 23.
 Separate collection, proper management and scientific recycling of these wastes is the need of the day as a solution to the problem of e-waste and plastic waste.  All Pune residents are requested to participate in the ‘Pehel-2024’ campaign in large numbers on the day of collection of e-waste generated at home or business.
 And bring the plastic to your nearest collection center and deposit it.  Such an appeal has been made through the Pune Municipal Corporation.
  Recoverable from collected e-waste
 Items will be repaired.  And these items will be donated to needy students and educational institutions.  The remaining e-waste and plastic waste will be handed over to organizations registered by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board.  Further recycling of waste will be done scientifically by these institutions.

PMC PEHEL 2024 | संत गाडगे बाबा जयंतीनिमित्त (Sant Gadge Baba Jayanti) पुणे महानगरपालिकेतर्फे (Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) दरवर्षी विविध पर्यावरणपूरक उपक्रम राबविणेत येतात. या मध्ये Deep Cleaning Drive, कचरा वर्गीकरण जनजागृती, कचऱ्याचे क्रॉनीक स्पॉट नष्ट करणे व पेहेल २०२४ (PMC PEHEL 2024) उपक्रम यांचा समावेश आहे.
गेल्या वर्षीप्रमाणे यंदाही पुणे महानगरपालिका, कमिन्स इंडिया फाऊंडेशन, केपीआयटी आणि पर्यावरण क्षेत्रातील स्थानिक सामाजिक संस्थांनी एकत्रितपणे ‘पेहेल-२०२४’ या ई-कचरा व प्लास्टिक संकलन महाअभियानाचे शहर स्तरावर आयोजन केले आहे. अशी माहिती उपायुक्त संदीप कदम (Sandip Kadam PMC) यांनी दिली.
 या अभियानामध्ये २५ फेब्रुवारी या रोजी संपूर्ण पुणे शहरामध्ये ४०० हून अधिक संकलन केंद्रे उभारली जाणार असून सकाळी ९ ते दुपारी १ या वेळेत
नागरिकांनी आपला सक्रीय सहभाग नोंदवावा. असे आवाहन महापालिका घनकचरा विभागाकडून (PMC Solid Waste Management Department) करण्यात आले आहे.
याअंतर्गत २४ फेब्रुवारीला शाळा-महाविद्यालयांमध्ये ई-कचरा व प्लास्टिक संकलन केले जाणार आहे. दिनांक १८ फेब्रुवारीपासून विविध स्तरावर जनजागृती कार्यक्रम आयोजित केले जाणार असून २३ फेब्रुवारीला प्रवचने सादर होणार आहेत.
ई-कचरा आणि प्लास्टिक कचऱ्याच्या समस्येवरील उपाय म्हणून या कचऱ्याचे स्वतंत्र संकलन, सुयोग्य व्यवस्थापन आणि शास्त्रीय पद्धतीने रिसायकलिंग करणे ही आजची गरज आहे. सर्व पुणेकरांना आवाहन आहे की, ‘पेहेल-२०२४’ महाअभियानामध्ये संकलनाच्या दिवशी मोठ्या संख्येने सहभागी होऊन घरामध्ये अथवा व्यवसायाच्या ठिकाणी निर्माण झालेला ई-कचरा व प्लास्टिक आपल्या जवळील संकलन केंद्रावर आणून जमा करावे. असे आवाहन पुणे महानगरपालिकेमार्फत करण्यात आले आहे.
 गोळा झालेल्या ई-कचऱ्यामधून दुरुस्त होऊ शकणाऱ्या वस्तूंची दुरुस्ती केली जाणार आहे. आणि या वस्तू गरजू विद्यार्थी व शैक्षणिक संस्थांना डोनेट केल्या जातील. महाराष्ट्र प्रदूषण नियामक मंडळाने नोंदणीकृत केलेल्या संस्थाना उरलेला ई-कचरा व प्लास्टिक कचरा सुपूर्त केला जाईल. पुढे या संस्थांद्वारे कचऱ्याचे शास्त्रीय पद्धतीने रिसायकलिंग केले जाईल.
