 Amendment in the Act to reduce the increased Property tax of 34 villages | Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar directed Urban Development Secretary

| 34 villages included in the Pune Municipal Corporation will be exempted from the income tax arrears and will also reduce the income tax by three to ten times.

PMC 34 Villages Property tax – (The Karbhari News Service) – It is unfair to levy income tax three times to ten times the income tax of the previous gram panchayat on the incomes of the residents and non-residents of the 34 villages newly included in the Pune Municipal Corporation and keeping in mind the fact that it is not possible for the income earners to pay this tax, care should be taken that the income tax of the Pune Municipal Corporation is not more than double the previous gram panchayat tax. In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar directed that the process of amending the law should be started immediately in a meeting held with the Urban Development Secretary today.

Pune Municipal Corporation has imposed three times to ten times increased tax on resident and non-resident incomes of 34 villages, which is causing injustice to the respective villages. The villagers demanded its removal from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Accordingly, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today held a meeting with the senior officials of the Urban Development Department and directed to remove the injustice immediately. Secretary of Urban Development Department K. Govindaraj, MLA Sarveshree Chetan Tupe, Sunil Tingre, Bhimrao Tapkir along with representatives of 34 villages, senior officers of Urban Development Department were present.

Through a special letter, the state government has instructed to suspend the collection of 2 percent penalty (delay amount) imposed on the annual arrears of property tax and penalty on illegal construction in 34 villages newly included in the Pune Municipal Corporation till further instructions. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today gave clear instructions to the senior officials of the Urban Development Department that as the law needs to be amended to reduce the tax levied from three to ten times on the income of 34 villages along with waiving the penalty, the said action should be completed immediately and relief should be given to the income holders of the 34 villages. is

पुणे महापालिकेत नव्याने सामाविष्ठ 34 गावातील निवासी-बिगरनिवासी मिळकतींना तीनपट ते दहापट वाढीव कर आकारण्यात आल्याने संबंधित गावांवर अन्याय होत आहे. तो दूर करण्याची मागणी गावकऱ्यांनी उपमुख्यमंत्री अजित पवार यांच्याकडे केली होती. त्या अनुषंगाने उपमुख्यमंत्री अजित पवार यांनी आज नगरविकास विभागाच्या वरिष्ठ अधिकाऱ्यांसोबत बैठक घेऊन अन्याय तातडीने दूर करण्याचे निर्देश दिले. उपमुख्यमंत्र्यांच्या मंत्रालयातील समिती सभागृहात झालेल्या या बैठकीला नगरविकास विभागाचे सचिव के. गोविंदराज, आमदार सर्वश्री चेतन तुपे, सुनील टिंगरे, भीमराव तापकीर यांच्यासह 34 गावांचे प्रतिनिधी, नगरविकास विभागाचे वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थित होते.

पुणे महापालिकेत नव्याने सामाविष्ट 34 गावातील अवैध बांधकामावरील शास्ती व वार्षिक थकीत मालमत्ताकरावर लावण्यात आलेल्या 2 टक्के शास्तीच्या (विंलब आकार) वसुलीस पुढील निर्देशांपर्यंत स्थगिती देण्याचे निर्देश राज्य शासनाने विशेष पत्राद्वारे दिले आहे. सदर शास्ती माफ करण्यासह 34 गावांतील मिळकतींवर आकारलेला तीनपट ते दहापट कर कमी करण्यासाठी कायद्यात दुरुस्ती आवश्यक असल्याने सदर कार्यवाही तात्काळ पूर्ण करुन, 34 गावांतील मिळकतधारकांना दिलासा देण्यात यावा, असे स्पष्ट निर्देश उपमुख्यमंत्री अजित पवार यांनी आज नगरविकास विभागाच्या वरिष्ठ अधिकाऱ्यांना दिल्याने संबंधीत गावांच्या प्रतिनिधींनी समाधान व्यक्त केले आहे.

Complaints were coming from citizens

Income tax has been levied in the villages included in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). These 34 villages included in 2017 and 2022 are being taxed in a phased manner. The income of these villages has been assessed according to the ready reckoner of the adjoining villages in the old limits of the Municipal Corporation. This tax is higher than Gram Panchayats and the amount is huge as penalty is imposed on arrears. The municipality is threatening to take confiscation action by sending notices to defaulters. Although the villages have come under the Municipal Corporation, there are no roads, water, drainage line facilities. There were angry reactions from the citizens of this village due to the large amount of taxes being levied in the absence of facilities. (Pune Property Tax)

Ajit Pawar took the initiative

In this background, Guardian Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had recently held a meeting with the delegation of the citizens of the village at the Government Rest House. MLAs Bhimrao Tapkir, Sunil Tingre, Chetan Tupe, Nationalist Congress Party Mahila Aghadi President Rupali Chakankar and Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar were present on the occasion. After hearing the views of the citizens, Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar will discuss with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about taxation in the included villages and take a strategic decision. Until then, the municipal administration had ordered that no action should be taken to recover the arrears. It was also promised to take strategic decisions. Accordingly this decision has been taken.
