 783 crores water bill of Pune Municipal Corporation due on Pune residents!

| 1% interest per month from 1st April if outstanding!

 

Pune – (The Karbhari News Service) – MC Water Supply Department owes a total of 783 crores to the citizens of Pune. The municipal corporation has tightened its belt to recover this. Pune residents will now have to pay interest if they keep their water bills in arrears. It will be started from April 1. Meanwhile, a deadline of 60 days has been given to pay the arrears till January 31. This information was given by Nandkishore Jagtap PMC, Chief Engineer of Water Supply Department. According to Jagtap, the arrears of 783 crores are from the year 1990. It also includes included villages. 112 crores has been recovered by the water supply department in the current financial year. 212 crores has been set as a recovery target. Meanwhile, the department had recovered 150 crores in the previous financial year. Jagtap also said.

– Appeal of PMC Water Supply Department

According to the public appeal of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC Pune), all commercial and some residential customers within the limits of Pune Municipal Corporation are already being billed through meters. Also Khadki Cantonment Board and
Water is being supplied to all the customers in Pune Cantonment Board areas by charging the bill through meter according to water consumption. Therefore, if the bill is not paid within 60 days from the date of the meter bill, the provisions of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, 1949, Chapter VIII, Taxation Rules
Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to levy penal interest at the rate of 1% per month on the outstanding amount as per 41. Since the decision has been taken afresh, a deadline of 60 days is being given to the end of March 31, 2025 to pay the arrears due on January 31, 2025. All customers should note that a penalty interest of 1% per month will be levied on the outstanding amount from 1st April and any overdue amount thereafter. It is said in the appeal.
Arrangements have been made to pay the bills to all customers who are supplied with water through meters by the Pune Municipal Corporation. However, if the customers do not receive the bills, they should obtain their water meter bills up to 31st January 2024 from Lashkar Water Supply Department/Swargate Water Supply Department/SNDT-Chatushrungi Water Supply Department and pay the outstanding amount before 31st March. Jagtap has made such an appeal.
